Press Release Writing

Writing press releases might sound a bit difficult but with some experience and education, you can learn and master this in no time.

Here’s how you can improve your press release writing:

1. Offer information about your company. Your readers and media people will surely want to know about your company. So, write a short paragraph about it. You can communicate when it started, the milestones it has already achieved, its goal and missions, and its position in the industry.

2. Write something that is newsworthy. The very idea behind writing a press release is to distribute news about your organization that your target audience might be interested to know about. If you don’t want editors and publishers to just ignore your news releases, you must write something that is really newsworthy. You can write about change in leadership within your organization or if you won a big project. You shouldn’t write a press release just because you want to empower your readers or you want to promote your products and services.

3. Pay attention to your headlines. Your target audience will read your press releases if you use catchy and descriptive headlines. These must summarize your content and must give your readers an idea on “what’s in it for them.”

4. Use inverted pyramid technique. Keep in mind that your readers will gauge the quality of your press releases on your first paragraph. If these people didn’t see anything valuable or newsworthy information on your first 100 words, you can be assured that they will ignore it. So, use the inverted pyramid technique each time you write your news releases. Put the most important information on your first paragraph to promote further reading.
