A person suffering from anxiety can deal with it in the following ways:
1. Take Control – Instead of getting more tensed about having an anxiety attack, a patient should take charge of his feelings and try to figure out the cause of his anxiety and then work to eliminate that cause or desensitize himself towards it.
2. Take care of “You” – An anxiety patient must take care of his body and mind and should take a balanced diet. A diet full of vitamins and minerals is extremely important as it not only makes our body strong but also gives us mental strength to manage anxiety.
3. Keep yourself busy – Anxiety multiplies when you sit idle and keep thinking about the thing that’s making you anxious. So, keep yourself busy in your daily routine.
4. Take a Break – If staying in your daily routine doesn’t work for you when you are feeling anxious about something, then just take a break. Go and do something that you don’t do everyday like throwing a party or going out with friends. This will distract your mind from the stressful thing or situation and will also give you the much needed break.
5. Breathing Exercises- Shallow, rapid breathing in stressful moments is the first symptom of an anxiety disorder. Therefore, a patient suffering from an anxiety disorder should practice various breathing exercises to ease off the stress. Breathing exercise is the most effective way of calming one’s self down.
6. Be More Confident – An anxiety disorder can be pretty harmful for the self-esteem of the patients. But instead of feeling embarrassed about it, the patient should try to build up their confidence as a confident mind can cross any obstacle. They can also take behavioral therapy to become more confident.
7. Divert Your Attention – A patient suffering from anxiety should divert his attention from the anxiety to other things that give him pleasure.
8. Join a Support Group- You can join or create a support group of people who are suffering with the same problem. A support gives an anxiety patient a source to let out his insecurities and fears in a secured environment among the people who understand his problem.
9. Stop worrying- Worrying about something has never been useful for anyone. So don’t spend sleepless nights worrying about the future as it will only make you more anxious.
10. Take professional help – In case of chronic anxiety, professional help is essential. A patient must take professional help and can seek therapy and medication to help him fight the anxiety. The patient must stay in contact of the doctor to mange the anxiety better.
