How to install or replace your speakers:-
Imagine you are on a long drive but without any music playing in the car! Sounds pathetic, isn’t it? We all love music especially when out on a long drive. The music makes an otherwise boring drive quite interesting. Hence, the importance of car speakers cannot be underestimated. A good speaker can enhance or diminish the listening experience. Speakers tend to lose their sound quality output as they grow older. The difference can be easily ascertained when sound of an old pair of speakers are compared with that of a new pair. New speakers output music that sounds crisper and more dynamic. The quality of a speaker also depends on the efficiency rating. Actually efficiency rating determines how well a speaker utilizes power. A high efficiency speaker rating is most suitable for a low powered factory system as the high efficiency speaker utilizes the low power available to the most. On the other hand, a low efficiency speaker is recommended for a high power factory system.
Installing a new speaker or replacing an existing one with a new one is generally the easiest of tasks. Our car forum will instruct you about the installation procedure of speakers. However, the installation procedure varies from one car to another. Actually the procedure to install the speaker is as varied as the choice of the speaker size and its brand name. Our car forum deals with the installation procedure of even specific models of speakers. Car speakers come in sizes like 6”x 9” or 6”x 8” or 5”x 7” etc and the location varies from the dashboard to doors. Check out our Auto news forums for reviews about good quality speakers.
Installation procedure for a speaker generally takes only about an hour to complete. The difficulty level also depends on the make of the vehicle and place of attachment of the speakers. However, in general the following procedure is followed to install speakers in a car. In case speakers are to be fixed to the dashboard or the doors, speaker grilles should be removed by using appropriate tools. The next step is to disconnect the speaker’s harness attached to the old speaker. Now, the disconnected speaker’s harness must be attached to the new speaker and screwed up. The grille then should also be screwed up properly. The steps are to be repeated for the other speaker. However, if the grilles of dashboard can not be removed, the dash pads in that case have to be removed.
However, installing speakers to the door poses some important considerations. It has to be made sure that the new speaker would not in anyway hamper the normal window opening and closing operation of the door. The door panel should be removed if the grilles of the door do not open. However, there is one note of caution. The screws of the door panel must be mounted either in the armrest or inside the door. This precaution is of course to prevent any injury from taking place by the sharp metallic ends of the screws.
In installing rear deck speakers, the considerations like: whether the speaker is top mounted or bottom mounted assumes most importance. Once the grilles are removed from top mounted speakers; they are to be held in to prevent the speakers from falling down. Then the usual procedure should be followed, that is, disconnecting the speaker’s harness from the old speaker and afterwards connecting the harness again with the new speaker. The harness connected to the speaker then should be plugged in to the vehicle side of the harness. Afterwards, the speaker should be properly screwed and grille be fastened. This procedure will have to be repeated to the other speaker.
One thing should be kept in mind. Speakers should be installed or replaced properly. Any mistake may prove costly for the car or even for the passengers.
