SWITZERLAND - HEAVEN ON EARTH

                       SWITZERLAND -  HEAVEN ON EARTH

“HEAVEN ON EARTH”. That is what comes to ones mind when anyone thinks of Switzerland.

God has really been very very kind to the swiss people by giving them such a beautiful land to be proud of. The scenic beauty of this place is exquisite. One has to go and visit the place to really understand what the experience is like!

To start with, Interlaken is a tiny and remarkable region between the lakes of Thun and Brienz, at the foot of the mighty mountains of Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau! Interlaken offers a wide choice of top-notch excursions. The absolute highlight is a trip to the Jungfraujoch- Top of Europe, at  3454 metres Europe’s highest altitude railway station.

Another beautiful place in Switzerland is Beatenburg, Europe’s longest village, with a 7km long main street stretching along a sunny terrace, 600 metres above Interlaken and Lake Thun. The ring side view of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau  from Beatenburg is awesome!

The dragon is a symbol of this charming little village and a host of appealing dragon activities which includes farm visits , scooterbiking and many others too.

Riggenberg and Goldswil are two very charming villages which is ideal for rest and relaxation. Lake Burgseeli lies between the two chalet villages  is something very special! The temperature of the waters of this lake can reach an agreeable 25 degrees centigrade and are perfect for a swim in summer. There are also some ancient castle churches over here which are worth a visit.

Isteltwald easily reached by car,  bus or boat is a well known picture postcard fishing village on Lake brienz. The Lake side restaurants with superb shady gardens and sun terraces is a great temptation to linger longer over there.

Lauterbrunnen is situated at the entrance of the valley and is also the departure point for Europe’s spectacular mountain railways. The most unique attraction of this place is the Trummelbach Falls which thunders down inside the mountains.

Grindelwald is a glacier village set against the ice capped peaks of the Jungfrau and some other mountain ranges. This place is known for its unspoilt setting of breathtaking beauty. Both its glaciers reach almost into the village itself.

Wengen is located on a wind-protected sun terrace, above the Lauterbrunnen Valley, situated at the foot of Jungfrau, Eiger and Monch. This place is the departure point for excursions to many attractive destinations, including the Jungfraujoch- Top of Europe.

Pfingstegg- Grindlwald’s popular vantage point with sweeping views over the whole valley. This place is easily reached by a short aerial cableway ride from just below the village church. This is the starting point got glorious hikes to the upper and lower Grindelwald Glaciers. The summer sledge run from the summit station is summer fun for all the tourists.

Another very interesting and exciting activity is the Wengen Aerial Cableway which carries guesta from the village centre up to Mannlichen, the most impressive vantage point in the heart of the Jungfrau Region. Mannlichen is a plce which is two steps to heaven and one step to an all year round hiking paradise and winter sports wonderworld.

This is a place where daily chores have to be forgotten , where leisure and pleasure rule, where breathtaking views open up over rugged ridges and snowy Alpine summits.

The next interesting place to visit is the Eiger Glacier Guesthouse which s ideal for weekend breaks and summer or winter holidays. This is the perfect departure point for a trip to the Jungfraujoch- Top of Europe. This Eiger Glacier station is reached from either Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald by the WengernalpRailway to Kleine Scheidegg where on ehas to change to the carriages of the Jungfrau Railway.

The top of Europe really tops! The constructions of the Jungfrau Railway began sometime in 1896. The Jungfrau railway is situated at an altitude of 3454 metres above sea level and is Europe’s highest railway station. The railway station at Jungfraujoch has an eerie effect because it’s  in a tunnel and there is no daylight but the experience is very thrilling and exciting and indeed an experience of a lifetime. There is a new ice gateway which links the Ice Palace   and the glacier plateau which are the most popular tourist attractions on the Jungfraujoch after the Sphinx observation terrace.

Apart from the picturesque scenic beauty of the places, the major cities in Switzerland also attract tourists the whole year round. Geneva, Zurich Lucerne, Berne and Basel  are some of the major cities which are worth visiting. These places have old palaces, churches which are of historical importance.

Switzerland is also a place which is famous for chocolates and probably the best chocolates of the world today is made over here. This is probably because the milk from the cows is very pure and thick over here which is why the chocolates are pure and rich and thick and of superior quality.

This is a great place for honeymoon couples and also for families with children because there are various activities for the family to do together. Summer is the ideal time for a trip to Switzeland because the weather is great and certain places like Jungfrau tourists can experience a snow capped holiday. Indeed, Switzerland is Heaven on Earth.
