In an increasingly crowded and competitive market Nokia had to make the successor to the Nokia N73 something more than a mere upgrade, and no one can deny they just did that, bringing improvement to virtually every aspect of the phone’s performance. A digital camera, a music player and a mini computer; all stuffed in one beautiful mobile, is what you will have in your pockets if you own one of the recently launched Nokia N73 Music Edition SERIES60 smartphone. About the size of a deck of playing cards and packed with all the complex functions that one can experience with a mobile phone, the new Nokia N73 still retains its user friendly tag.

The 3.2 mega pixel camera equipped with Carl Zeiss’s lens is ideal for taking both indoor and outdoor shots. The phone is also equipped with a secondary camera on the front which makes it possible for one to have a video conference. Image qualities of pictures taken with this phone are superb- certainly on par with most of its competitors such as the Sony Ericsson’s Cybershot. Added to this is the wide screen experience which has been made possible by this version of Nokia for viewing stunningly clear pictures and videos on your phone. Besides having an upgraded storage capacity than the previous version of N73 the newly launched music edition can shrink photos to save your storage space. Red eye reduction, close-up shots, burst shots and modes for different weather are some options the camera is equipped with.

The music player which comes along with this edition of N series is just amazing. With this model one has the option for modifying the tone of the music player while playing a song. The equaliser and other additional audio settings has made the music edition more powerful than its predecessor; the Nokia N73. This music player supports files with extension AAC, ACC+, eAAC+, MP3, WMA, WAV, 3GP, 3GPP, MPEG, MP4, M4A, DCF, and M3U. But it does not necessarily support all features of a file format or all variations of file formats. What more can we expect? Nokia also assures that listening to your favourite music will just be a pure joy with this edition’s enhanced music player. There are added features for fast playback, interaction with one’s favourite radio station and podcasting applications too.

When it comes to internet browsing the mobile is one user friendly device which gives you the option to browse using advanced settings and options. Internet browsing is made simple with the two browsers which come with the mobile. It is optional for one to load browsers which are compatible with this mobile which can of course boost the browsing power of the mobile. OPERAMINI version 8 and other software such as SPY CALL can be easily installed on this mobile.

Nokia N73 is one such gadget which can also be a multitasking phone. With application software such as the TOTAL RECALL installed, you have the choice of keeping in record whichever important conversations you would like to recall. Wireless keyboards, DVD player, GPS tracking devices are a few other applications which can be downloaded on the phone and these softwares are easily available on the internet for free. The services are made available through the internet connection.

Moreover, the phone comes with pre-installed Mobile Office softwares. This feature comes in handy for professionals with hectic schedules who need to access office documents, presentations and PDF files often. Documents which are once stored can easily be transferred through Bluetooth or a data cable to a computer.

On the other hand Nokia Lifeblog makes it easier to keep track of multimedia items and it automatically updates and stores its history to a PC when connected through Bluetooth or using a USB data cable. Transfer of photos and viewing is made easy by the Adobe Photoshop downloader which comes with the PC suite. It stores images automatically to the PC when the mobile is connected to the PC.

Though certainly not delivering on all its promises, the Nokia N73 Music Edition with 512Mb of inbuilt memory and 2GB external memory is a real improvement. The phone becomes a bit slow in its performance when too much images are stored. But then there is the shrink or store in your PC option which can free the memory. This mobile phone indeed offers excellent value for the price tag it has. The phone equipped with all these features comes at a price of Rs 21,500 only and is available at all Nokia showrooms across the country and other authorised Nokia dealers.
