When you write a press release it should be effective and effectiveness means it is noticed and read by maximum people from the target group. Here are the 8 keys that will help you to create a great press release.

 

Follow a series- Make a series of the press releases, if possible. In the first press release, let the reader know about your organization, group- what is it and what it does. Create it with some events.  Then in the subsequent press releases cater to other important topics, events.

 

Creating a story - Create a story around some event, happening, news, campaign about your organization, group, or company. Let the story cover it. A press release without a definite centre will be boring and will not be published.

 

Identify trend - Find out what is going on in the industry, sector, in the business world or in the field your organization is working. Use something that is “in” and create something interesting.

 

Identify target - Write the press release for a specific target audience only. A general press release that caters to everybody will have less impact. Targeting it to the particular reader group will make it more effective.

 

Starting- Use strong and interesting words in the starting paragraph. This is the place which will make or break your press release. If the starting of a press release is interesting, then the readers will read more of it. Otherwise they will simply put it aside. Use the first 20-30 words for creating a good impact.

 

Details- Provide all the details of the event, so that the journalists get the required facts in the first time, without the need to search it again. Add your contact details, address, time you want to release your press release etc. Add pictures if you have any. Make it for journalists. They do not have much time. Give them everything they need. 

 

Timing is important- timing of the press release is very important. Time it with some big happening in your organization, may be a campaign, news etc. You can also time it with something big happening in your industry or sector. This will bring your press release to everybody’s notice.

 

Make the press release interesting. Use keywords in writing. You should choose the words used in the press release carefully to grab the attention of the reader. A concise, compact press release with interesting word will make it interesting for the reader (journalists).
